Christmas Traditions

Fa la la la la la la la la yall!

The Christmas season is my absolute favorite. It’s full of gorgeous decorations, music, frasier fir- scented candles, treats, movies, comfortable sweaters and traditions. I can’t think about Christmas without cracking a little smile. I love it. While this season is joyful for many, I realize that is not the case for all. Wherever you find yourself this December, it’s not too late to allow the joy, peace, comfort, hope and light that this special season brings to flood your heart and actions. Today is December 2nd . . . take a deep breath and set a tone of unhurried wonder for this Advent season in your heart. Make this December a month of building new rhythms or reestablishing old ones that foster deeper relationships and provide opportunities to love others well. Practicing Christmas traditions is a way to confidently anticipate, recognize, and respond with gratitude to the greatest gift that was ever given.

Most people have at least one special holiday tradition during the month of December--- mine developed many over the years. As I’ve grown up, I’ve realized -- to the outsider -- some of our family traditions might have seemed hokey or dorky . . . STILL, I love them and Christmas just wouldn’t feel the same without practicing a few of them. At the risk of exposing just how nerdy I am . . . (or my family is), I’ll be sharing several evergreen Christmas traditions this month!

Always Evergreen,

Lillian
